This is going to melt faces off!

“Winners of Lollapalooza’s Last Band Standing competition, North Side DJs Punky Fresh combine pop anthems and their own material into fast paced mash up sets, making them the ideal party rockers.” -TimeOut Chicago

I have talked to everyone performing on Saturday and I am real pleased to announce that 100% of our earnings will go to HOPE FOR HAITI NOW http://www.hopeforhaitinow.org

Remember, it’s free to attend if you RSVP!

http://www.facebook.com/inbox/?tid=1364758279094#/event.php?eid=274737386992

I am a broke artist, but to know that a child is left with out much resources, a family, and a roof over their head frightens me. I am blessed, yet spoiled compared to the people of Haiti.

Therefore, I will personally donate $1 per person that shows up from my own pocket on top of our revenue earnings. Doors open at 7:30pm and show starts at 8pm.

If you need more info, feel free to email: pete@effortmusic.com

We have a great night with a great line up: ANDY YEO, MR. MEOWGI, and yours truley…

So we’re finally going to release something for sale… Keep an eye out for our first official release ‘The Prelude: The Fresh Punks E.P.’ – Tentatively planned for April, 20, 2010 release through Effort Music Group.

Then we’ll release our actual full length sometime after that.

I haven’t been on a plane in many years. The last time I was on one was coming home from Phoenix then I had a traumatizing dream about crashing. I remember the plane split in two and I could feel the wind blowing against my face as I was falling from the sky. So I was nervous getting on a flight to Denver.

Luckily, the flight was real smooth. I got to Beta at 8pm and one of the workers there (Mike) was incredibly helpful. He was the sound tech and he gave me a tour of Beta. It is honestly my favorite nightclub. All the hype is true. The Funktion One sound system isn’t over hyped, it’s the real deal. It’s so clean, yet loud that you can have a conversation with a buddy next to you. It’s the best sound system I have ever experienced. I felt very priviledged to play with it. I have Preston to thank for giving us the opportunity to headline Beta Nightclub!

The guys in Blingfaced opened up the night and I was blown away by how nice they were. DJ Ishe and Soleil were so nice. I didn’t get to know Sureshot well, but he was very nice before I went on. I had the pleasure to get to know their friend and label (Velcro City Records) owner John a.k.a. DJ Hero. We discussed about production and it was refreshing to discuss that rather than discussing about being a DJ.

Ishe and Hero introduced me to so many people, I wish I had a notebook and pen to take notes. I got to meet Steve from Pandora Radio, we will definitely try to get our music up there!

So my set… Ishe introduced me to Denver and then I started off with our newest song “Good Lord”. I was worried the crowd wouldn’t dig it, but I saw people dancing which was a great feeling.

The first hour I felt like I killed it, then I got drunk off of only a few beers! A friend told me that it was the elevation change and my blood was thinner than normal. Next time I will make sure to not drink at all.

Overall I was happy about my set. Kids I didn’t know were constantly coming up to me, praising me, asking for pictures, and etc. I didn’t expect any of that, it was a nice surprise.

I’d like to thank: Preston, Mike, Ishe, Hero, Soleil, Sureshot, and the VJ for making the Denver + Beta experience amazing.

“It’s not just a brand-new year, but a whole new decade, so why not kick it off with something fresh? Chicago’s Punky Fresh is so recently arrived on the scene that not only doesn’t the act have an album out yet, but it still has that new-producer smell. The two members claim to be brothers and go by the names =p! (pronounced like the letter “p”) and d, and first made a splash with a remix of Passion Pit’s “The Reeling” that landed them a spot at Lollapalooza 2009. They trade in genre-busting, expectation-defying juxtapositions of sound and style that fit the name Punky Fresh. On a track like “Wild Leek,” they can proffer the kind of old-school trance that used to be the mainstay of the Superstition label, garnished with a twist of today’s electro house. Then, on a track like “HTHRS RVNG,” they’ll go and remind you of the weird cut-and-pasted-samples and day-glo synth aesthetic of the proto-rave scene. And just when you think you’ve got them pegged as retro-revivalists, they turn around and mash up Far with MIA in a completely of-the-moment-sounding mix. So forget the categories and go hear them with open ears on Friday, January 8, at Beta.”
